1. Sunlight and Soil:

• Wisterias thrive in full sun but can tolerate some light shade, though flowering may be reduced in shadier conditions. 
• They prefer moist, well-drained soil and will not tolerate waterlogged conditions. 
• Choose a location with good air circulation, away from strong winds. 

2. Pruning:

• Summer Pruning:

  In late summer, shorten the new growth to about six leaves per stem, according to the RHS. This encourages the development of flower buds for the following year. 

• Winter Pruning:

  In late winter (February), cut back the summer-pruned shoots to 2 or 3 buds. This further refines the shape and promotes flowering. 

• Training:

  Wisterias are vigorous climbers and need regular training to keep them manageable. Tie in new growth to a support structure, like a wall, pergola, or trellis. 

• Hard Pruning:

  If your wisteria is overgrown or has been neglected, hard pruning in winter can help restore it, though flowering may be affected for a year or two. 

3. Watering and Feeding:

• Water your wisteria regularly, especially during dry spells, to prevent flower bud drop. 
• Apply a high potash fertilizer in spring to promote flowering. 
• Consider adding a general-purpose feed in spring and summer to support growth
